I was waiting to turn left at an intersection yesterday during my lunch break when a truck, an eighteen-wheeler if you will, drove through the intersection in the opposite direction. On the side of the trailer, along with the company logo, were printed the words "Reefer Division." I did a double-take and was quite confused. So, when I got back to the office, I scoured the ol' net for an explanation:
Apparently, in the context of intermodal freight transport, a reefer is a shipping container that is refrigerated.
I hope this helps to clarify any confusion.
