Secondly, in honour of the newly enacted Harmonized Sales Tax in Ontario today and the related 8¢/litre increase in the cost of fuel at my local gas 'n gulp (from $0.94/litre to $1.02/litre), I thought I would share this photo I found while weeding my digital photo collection earlier today:
I took this photo in July 2004 along the South Shore highway in Nova Scotia. Back then, this price was so high, I had to take a picture of it. According to OntarioGasPrices.com, the average price per litre in Ontario at this time was hovering around $0.78/litre.
And you could also watch a double feature and a news reel for a nickel at the local picture show with enough change for a cup of coffee and steak and kidney pie.
